Capstone project in healthcare management write for me purpose on egg drop contraption credit report requests viewed by others hey guys what's up of course my name is should I be as you now and this is TT and today the settings a little bit different today I'm making a video film inside a car I'm waiting for my cousin to get out of his job interview and I thought that maybe would be nice to make a video or two or three catching up with you know everything schooling a OTA conference and occupational therapy month which I cannot believe that I completely forgot to make a video for it so three of them will be released today so the first video I want to talk about um my schooling this semester I got a 3.9 one GPA a semester which was phenomenal I busted my butt and a were so hard room very happy for me to see all these things pay off so the classes I took this semester were motor performance assessment research um my I've had my first level one and there was one worth environmental technology so now let's forget that one it's my favorite class too but so I want to talk about each class individually and what I learned in the class and hopefully just some guidance of some of the things you might learn during your time in OT school so let us start with the big beast motor performance and motor performance was essentially a hybrid anatomy kinesiology course in which you know you learn all the movements and the degrees and um you know degrees of range of motion and all that kind of stuff and you also learned how to do many muscle testing qfa which is a quick functional assessment um you learn how to do a variety of the current things a body really I think that class was very challenging for me personally because I'm I struggle with EMP when I took it so I felt like this massive chip on my shoulder to not allow the disaster that took place with me an EMP during undergrad take place again and I really did enjoyed the class because you know it made more sense because he's associated more with ot than just anatomy which is rote memorization and trying to know where everything is it was nice to know that the muscles associated with shoulder flexion are the deltoid and the coracobrachialis and supraspinatus that I'd probably not right but knowing those muscles and knowing how they you know affect the specific movement made more sense to me than just rote memorization I hate rote memorization I'm not good at it um then the second class I took was impairments and technologies that was great that was by far my favorite class because I learned a lot about anthropometrics I learned a lot about economic stuff and what is legitimate is I learned about in on the social components manipulating one's environment for them to be able to participate in activities that are meaningful to them and for me because it was so you know straight to the point direct I'm a very linear thinker with sprinkles of creativity around so I like linear I like being able to see oh you know this desk is too low for you my one increase it a few inches or you know you don't have enough room to maneuver your wheelchair around so we're going to create more space for you to it um for you to be able to ambulate within your environment and so on and so forth so I really did enjoy that class as well because you know that's the setting that I never thought I would consider as a therapist like work industry and stuff like that but it really like has been close to my number one in my own personal interest now um what else I took my assessment scores pretty much we just learned about assessment we'll learn how to administer different assessments we learned the functional independent measure we learned the - we learned the Barthel index we learned um I remember the cosa which is a child occupational self assessment we learned belly-screen the Bailey's was so much fun it was colorful and he had a bunch of cool stuff so I really liked that I didn't like doing the assessment two reviews though like girls were boring as hell because he had to look for psychometric so is the assessment reliable is the assessment valid um you know like what is the internal consistency oh that should push me to sleep um the number four I had my research course which is now we're kind of developing research that is going to be associated with our field so it's not going to be so much of just learning how to do research which is what was done for a semester is not as applying all that knowledge we learned for a semester and you know incorporating into occupational therapy which I got really excited about I I did research an undergrad and it was something that I really liked especially because I want to go get my PhD eventually I don't know in what maybe education but you know I'm then my level one I hope I'm not skipping anything I talked about motor I talked about environment I talked about research and I talked about assessments yes so the last class that I took was my level one we did a level one and a community mental health setting so we worked with the older populations and I had a group of four and our group is called healthy mind and body and we incorporated different aspects of the brain and the body they wanted to focus on so one of my classmates focus on meditation and art another classmate focused on Pilates another classmate focus on um you know eating nutrition and stuff like that and I focused on Tai Chi you know colitis is a little bit more of the core you know balance stability I'm sitting balance and you know it standing balance all that kind of stuff Taichi a lot of the movements focus more on you know reaching extend all the kind of stuff to reach to pinch to do all these movements that people typically need to do if you're gonna go grab a something from your cupboard or like you know like you want to be know turn the key so you need to do a specific the three prong pinch so things like that so I really did enjoy the classes we took this semester um it was pretty challenging in comparison to our first semester I realized that I spend a lot more time studying going to places to get stuff done so that was huge um but I think next semester this upcoming summer semester we're doing it we're going to be taking classes in cognition we're going to be taking classes in neuroscience we're going to be taking classes and don't rehab you know stuff like that so it's going to be super challenging but I'm very excited to get into that position and you know I'm happy to see them almost halfway done with the program and so it's possible telling you five years ago I wasn't even thinking about getting into a program but now today I am almost halfway done with one very good one so follow your dreams and keep fighting I don't know how this ended up being super preachy but you know if you like this video you know please like comment and subscribe I know two more videos are gonna be coming up within the day and I'll see you guys next time write for me capstone logistics texas Niagara County Community College.
