Capstone herbicide label write for me capstone presentation outline sample hiqa reports detention schools [Music] my name is Dino Ramar chairman for the department of emergency medicine at Rush University Medical Center and founder of the advanced trauma training program this program has been designed to enhance the training of medics before they deployed overseas to war zones by utilizing the skills of board-certified emergency physicians the goals of the course are to save lives decrease morbidity and to desensitize the medics for the injuries they're about to treat the program focuses on not only advanced trauma training skills but also the identification and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and mild traumatic brain injury [Music] it was amazing I wasn't expecting civilian doctors to be able to put together such a great disaster slash military scenario I'd love to see everybody come through something like this especially medics as they deploy [Music] I'm set to deploy soon so this gave me the opportunity to be able to get used to the anatomy and frankly before I actually cut into somebody's neck to make them breathe I want to have practicing it was really good training socks when I got to see a lot of things that I haven't seen before the rush advanced trauma training program focuses on two aspects of trauma training first a pre-deployment combat trauma training course and second a new provider and renewal certification courses initially the program was designed to equip military health care providers with the necessary skills required to provide battlefield medical care two wounded combat warriors this week-long course is designed for medics nurses physician assistants physicians and other level 1 through 3 health care providers from all military services both active and Reserve components and is divided into multiple modules first is a didactic lecture format centered around the well-known international trauma life support course which is taught over several days world renowned experts teach these didactic sessions with in-depth coursework showing participants how to identify the signs and symptoms of traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder just as vital students learn about situational and internal awareness relaxation techniques and coping skills mental health tools needed to coach and advise their colleagues on how to deal with both TBI and PTSD basic disaster life support further augments the didactic portion including chemical and biological related hazards as well as field triage after successful completion students are issued in itls provider certificate the second major component is the trauma skills lab applying lessons learned during the itls course students are then taught manual medicine procedures including advanced airway techniques spinal immobilization and extrication from vehicles using low fidelity mannequins and standard-issue hospital and military medic field equipment extensive lab experience complements classroom learning in live tissue lab students observe then perform life-saving skills cricothyroid autonomy chest tube insertion needle thoracostomy and thoracostomy with cardiac injury repair an equally challenging Kundera laboratory combines lessons from previous tissue lab and the classroom students perform procedures they learned on human bodies board-certified emergency physicians direct and guide participants to complete cricothyroid atomies endotracheal intubation x' glide scope intubations and venous cut-down we got a chance to actually do some of the life-saving interventions on a lot or on a human patient because we do mannequins and we do animal models but unless you're actually there it's very difficult to be able to get the actual Anatomy so this gave us the opportunity to do that advanced trauma training program curriculum maximizes every minute of every day grouped into small teams military healthcare providers travel to local level one trauma centers as part of their coursework each team member has the opportunity to observe and experience every stage of patient care whether pre-hospital trauma triage receiving assessment or treatment and during evening sessions they interact with Chicago paramedics and real-life trauma situations completing ambulance ride alongs where the students experience the opportunity to operate in the pre-hospital trauma life support my ambulance ride along our first call-out we had a double gunshot wound that we responded to they've never experienced anything like that in my entire life [Music] [Applause] surrounded by screams smoke and all the intensity that comes with a battle or disaster scenario medics and military healthcare providers practical examination is the combat trauma Lane exercise supervised by physicians who have practiced international emergency medicine in war-torn countries students enter a replicated unsecure zone locate and stabilized actors portraying trauma victims and high-fidelity manikins in the field they extricate transport to a higher level of care and continue treatment at a second field hospital scenario for a trauma experience it's the first time I thought it was great any opportunity for a medic but they get to take advantage of real life training like this just got to do it after six demanding days and nights spent side-by-side with real-life first responders and acclaimed specialists students complete mandatory testing and certification requirements graduating with hard earned credits and congratulations through an aggressive after-action review process students in the field have provided valuable feedback since the program's inception which allows instructors to modify and tailor course components to accommodate any specific need and every branch of the Armed Forces this course is for everybody that is in the nursing medical career formatic fire department civilian and military earning up to fifty
