Write for me sample capstone project topics do my capsim capstone strategy help paper to bed in formal cover greater MSP business is brought to you by the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota of the more than eight hundred businesses on the Green Line no district is more unique than little Mekong located between McCubbin and Galt air streets along University Avenue cultures blend and create some of the top-rated restaurants and shopping experiences in greater MSP bobbing Tasha's executive director of little Mekong is joining us this morning thanks for being here today good to be here let's let's start first with a description for anybody who had perhaps has not visited yet what is little Mekong little Mekong as you mentioned is on University Avenue near the state capital at the east end of University Avenue it's a collection of Asian owned businesses that's grown over the years so we have over a hundred small businesses mostly of Southeast Asian origin a very wide diversity of small businesses family-owned from restaurants to gift shops and so on and you know that the in the immigrants in Southeast Asia over the last 34 years congregate in the area that's how Americans grown so we wanted to capitalize on that and brand era as Asian District so it's it's a really unique destination for the twin cities yeah when I was over at the Capitol in the 90s the district was just starting to take shape and it was terrific but at that point it was mostly a few restaurants there was I remember a wonderful bakery in the area but now you've got a hundred districts and you are offering besides the restaurants as you said some retail what does that involve the retail the retail would be anything from Hair Salons chiropractic health dental offices to really unique shops such as herbal medicine and traditional ethnic clothing and of course the cuisine everyone knows what the cuisine those are pretty unique if folks are into Asian food that's this is one area where they they find some really top-notch Asian restaurants all right some of them are pretty unique to Twin Cities you have known restaurants Vietnamese restaurants wild restaurants and you're really into exotic and bizarre food you can find them all there and so we have people from all of the places you mentioned Wisconsin the entire Twin Cities metro region and we also have tourists coming to the Twin Cities who find finding to be a unique destination for in the Twin Cities for all the restaurants that I mentioned is it fair to say that regionally there really is nothing like this in our region in our even our our three or four state region that you'd have to go pretty far into shooting you know the East East East to Chicago that to have such a unique Southeast Asian retail district I would say so a little Macomb is unique in that it's mostly Southeast Asian you have East Street Minneapolis of course but it's not as unique as Lower Mekong in that most of the businesses are from Southeast Asia and even if you go to Chicago you won't find what we have in st. Paul and so that really is a unique asset for st. Paul and the whole region you know some of the restaurants we have are really top-rated and they're the main draw but again there are some really unique shops and from cultural institutions as well and so you want to immerse yourself in Southeast Asian culture this is the destination yeah very much a draw for Greater MSP to have this located here now obviously those businesses were affected during light rail construction what has been the experience well it was pretty tough during on 2012 and the heavy construction season of the LRT so a number of businesses saw their revenue went down but as construction is finishing up businesses has salt they've seen up ticking customers coming back and a number of them are actually reporting 20% the increase in customers since construction is done and a number of them are anticipating the opening of the rail line in 2014 and so they're expanded their business and facilities hire new staff they're getting ready for new customers coming through on a new light rail line how many steps will there be for a little bit kong a little bit kong is the western station it's between the capital station and the dale station okay so those two other stations are pretty near so but if you wanted to do a walk along there you could get off a dale or university you can get off it's not a bad walk wasn't it's a pleasant walk and from either downtown it's a matter of minutes from the university of minnesota it's just a matter of minute for most folks I think transportation has been an issue it takes if you write your car it could take longer you know for you you only have so much time for lunch but with light rail line you can get to learn make home in 10 15 minutes from either end of the line and you can visit your favorite restaurant or favorite shop go back to work I know and not to mention parking which is the other issue in them right in there and parking won't be an issue if you take the light rail line 14 um water place for future development now with the light rail green rail Green Line delight ready to open here in about a year for the district but the new because obviously we want our business businesses to be strong and a lot of them are growing hire new staff as I mentioned we want to attract new businesses and grow the business base and create more jobs in the district in addition we want that we want to create a district that's fully attractive that would draw folks in with arts and culture with more pedestrian friendly environment more open spaces and new developments are happening one of the development that's happening later this year is the old home at University of Western that's going to create more retail space commercial space housing you know it's going to create a number of jobs and in a couple years we want to see a new development behind the my village restaurant that's going to be a Education and Cultural Center and that's going to create more jobs in more retail space so little Macomb we envision it to grow more businesses stronger businesses and more jobs and obviously we want to bring everyone into the area and welcome everyone to the area so when businesses come to you and they say do you have some advice for me what you tell them we'd say come to little make home we got space for you we have a customer base the light rail is going to go through here there's a lot of potential for growth for business and entrepreneurs and recovery you think certainly the disruption has stabilized at this point yeah there is no disruption at this point now you can there's parking there's planning of parking and the businesses are ready to welcome in customers back in new customers in mm-hm because as you mentioned here it is not just a district for the Southeast Asian population of the twin cities of Greater MSP but rather a draw for for all kinds of customers including you've got today going on there which I think it's called st. Paul open streets this is a festival that's going on today what is that all about st. Paul B Street it's it's a festive fun day for families for everybody to come out and experience the Avenue in a unique way the Avenue will be open to pedestrian only it will be restricted no naam no motorized vehicle travel on University Avenue for about two miles the Avenue on the eastern east end of University Avenue it's it's a way to explore find out all the unique businesses and shops and we have along the Avenue and it's happening today from 11:00 to 6:00 great so if you can't wait for light rail take advantage of it today there for one or those two days without traffic on University thanks for joining us this morning thank you now while light rail construction disrupted some business to be sure it led to an expansion of one operation we'll explain next capstone mortgage lending School of Drama.
