Write for me powerpoint capstone project 2 file youtube capstone project mit computer science master thesis ideas hello guys and welcome back today let's talk about a recent interview with Strauss selnick with game industry top biz a lot of different topics were covered like Red Dead Redemption - but more importantly for this video we are just going to talk about the borderlands 3 related and vote but before I start make sure to follow me on Twitter at hater height for video updates and I've been posting a lot more Borderlands content over there that might not make it into video's necessarily - why right for today's thumbnail which is really cool he makes a lot of Borderlands R so all the links will be down below to the full article why right and my page so with that let's get right into it so first thing we have to talk about is the e3 mentions and why he really doesn't see a point and announcing there anymore so Strauss says quote the show is really productive for us when we use the opportunity to meet our customers from around the world to me analysts who followed the company and to talk to press about what's going on and while there are consumers here it's not primarily a consumer show we are more effective doing business here than doing motion here which would have been nice to know before e3 a lot of people were expecting to see Borderlands 3 at e3 and with gearboxes previous commitment to packs or PAX West more specifically it all makes sense why they really didn't want to announce it and why even if the game did get delayed and we could see it next year most likely I wouldn't expect an announcement at e3 then the interview transitions to a quote temple release strategy and it mentions that take twos trying to release at least one triple-a title per year last year Zelnick and 2k president David is mailer told game industry biz that they wanted to reach a point to release at least one triple a title per year instead of their current model of relying on MVA WWE and the sid meier series even though Zelnick does understand that development time is increasing for most modern triple-a games which does make sense especially for looking at their tentpole release for this year being Red Dead Redemption 2 and then hopefully the 10 release for next year being Borderlands 3 and then he kind of gets more into the idea of the front line title and what that really means and this is what has become the biggest headline out of the interview so when you mentioned the front line title he says quote obviously this year we have Red Dead Redemption 2 as a front line title next year we have a big title coming from 2k that's a front line title so we're moving in this direction but we're not there yet the bottom line is that development cycles are longer when you want to make the highest quality in the business that's our goal we don't always achieve it but that's our goal so of course Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming this year after all the delays and height build-up while at first it was teased and assume that Borderlands 3 would also be coming due to earlier conference calls by take-two and earnings report but from a business perspective it doesn't make too much sense to separate or to drag who might buy the games this fall into two separate camps a lot of people really don't buy that many games so the released Borderlands 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 in the same year it can just drag down the sales for both especially when both of these titles fans have been waiting a long time for follow-up so it also gives gearbox more time to perfect the game and create the game that they want to make and that the fans want it does suck for the borderlands fans but they are a company and we're still getting Red Dead Redemption to this year so everyone should pick up that it looks really good and then we'll start getting the borderlands 3 news and it will be really cool to get after that so the final topic that they talk about is microtransactions and what it means for the future so Zelnick starts by saying quote there's no question that the fact that recurrent consumer spending was nearly half of our business in the last financial year and it gives us a latitude to invest even more judiciously in our upcoming titles and he's obviously talking about GTA 5 how successful that's been for them with microtransactions and although we're current consumer spending is what they call it the game daily article kind of breaks it down saying that publish we'll need to be cautious in how they introduce monetization to upcoming franchises like Bioshock or Borderlands when they return if development cycles are becoming longer the cost must also be increasingly bigger to make it worth it there will be fans who don't like the idea of adding microtransactions at all to either series but Zelnick kind of confronts those head-on and says well Borderlands had 9 paid downloadable content packs so we're current consumer spending isn't only in-game payments or virtual currencies it also means downloadable add-on content for example civilization titles have DLC mafia 3 has DLC which is still generating revenue to this day our goal is always to engage the consumer after the initial release if we have something that doesn't work we won't be able to do that because no one wants more of it so the fact that he mentions Borderlands by name is important Randy Pitchford earlier this year has already spoken out against predatory microtransactions in games and I believe that the borderlands series has kind of said the gold example of what to follow monetization wise and they never really pressure the consumers into giving anything and there's no changes to gameplay because of it so if you remember Borderlands 2 did have purchasable skins and heads that were exclusive they were $0.99 you couldn't earn them in-game but you could buy them they really weren't pushed that hard if you wanted them you could buy them or if you just want to support the game you could buy them then we got the seasons of DLC which were really great there was the season pass if you wanted to pay ahead and just get all of them then we also got the headhunter packs which were also a great deal just the single story missions so I could see something really similar to this in Borderlands 3 something else that we haven't really talked too much about is that they could even do multiple seasons of DLC maybe even two with eight full story campaigns just because of the new system limitations on the ps4 and Xbox one so Borderlands 3 I'm not worried at all about how gearbox will continue to make money on the game and the amazing things are gonna do with it but it is safe to say that we will probably see again the paid heads and skins along with DLC and even headhunter packs but let me know what you guys think down below is Borderlands 3 going to be a frontline title from take 2 coming in 2019 and how do you feel about the microtransactions are you still worried that gearbox might throw in some things or before to add weapons or pressured into game-changing mechanics that is basically turns the game and to pay to win let me know all your thoughts down below thank you guys so much for watching like comment subscribe and see you guys in the next one anko I was in that live looking for the Queen before somebody
