Write for me it capstone project ideas 2019 for money do my is the electrical capstone hard uss cole damage report hurricane I'm DJ rob nelson and what's your first plan all right so my name is ron nelson i've been credited as being i guess somewhat of a hip-hop entrepreneur when it comes from a radial point of view specially so if you want to know about me guy listen up a little bit might take a minute so i go back to the whole school 1983 1984 1985 the magic years you know what I'm saying so come here like a boy from Jamaica to Canada and then make history after that that's what we do when we come from yadi not I mean we come here we make history other people commit crime we make history no I mean from Jamaica right here to Canada I just fell in love with all kinds of music it's what people don't understand I loved rap music funk music that music light music whatever just an open mind just like Afrika Bambaataa you know what I mean so eventually I took it to a next level and in grade 12 and 13 i created a radio station at my high school so I didn't know that would kind of be a stepping stone but actually hired people students to work in the mornings during lunch periods after school and put a couple of speakers in the cafeteria and wired it down to the jetpack hooked up some turntables a mixer and man that's why I think got me in a Ryerson where I took radio television and graduated with my diploma in 1985 for radio television arts and while at Ryerson on the very first day I applied I did something I guess that a lot of people didn't do I march down to the local Ryerson radio station at the time they did clean own a ck l and radio and I applied for a job and I got it and I started playing a lot of black music incorporated with the rock and punk rock music that they wanted me to play and eventually they fired me because it's that too much black music ironically on a couple of months about a couple of months later they rehired me and said I could not play exclusively the music that I wanted to play so that became the Fantastic Voyage program where i played funk there was really not much hip-hop at the time but I did play rap music on the ground black music and I was a person that spoke his mind as well and what happened basically is that that show became the very first hip-hop show in Canada and it became an umbrella for other people who had similar case so that's just how it was back then you start doing one thing I was playing music on the radio back in those days sunshine sound crew with dominating the streets that was our only connection to rap and hip-hop music the sunshine emaciated odd up in the docks I was one of those eager kids that would have loved just five minutes on the sunshine sound system but had to sit there watch hungry to play I wanted to be a DJ what separated me from them was the fact that I could my ish to the radio and that branded a whole new kind of culture where people who didn't know that there were b-boys people didn't know that they had hip-hop embedded inside of them people who shared the hip-hop DNA could now rally around this radio show every saturday from one to three and then eventually from one to four where i played you know on the ground rap music every saturday on 88.1 and there's a lot of people out there will tell you stories about how they used to have to you know put a coat hanger o in certain position or park over a railroad track or something just to be able to tune in because the station was only 50 watts when it first started so that's what happened and one thing led to another eventually the people wanted to see what they were hearing so there weren't any other promoters at the time actually sunshine was promoting but I decided to put on my promotional shoes and take things to another level and I became a leading promoter of Rapids who can hip hop I begged my parents at one point to go to the bank and get a loan for me that turned out to be a terrifying experience because that loan was actually a mortgage I didn't know what a mortgage was it was for seventy five thousand dollars but all I wanted was the money so I have a little money to keep doing shows for years and years and years because the bank wouldn't take back to seventy-five thousand dollars after I made it back and I didn't understand still held some mortgage all i knows that i think i paid that mortgage on quick 12 or 15 years or something like that but anyway it ain't that that little capital enabled me to have a serious company ron Nelson productions and for years I brought up while doing the radio show a lot of artists you named Big Daddy came Run DMC there's so many I brought up into a iced tea ice cube salt pepper MC Shan Heavy D and the boys the monster jams & A Wrap attacks the battles were again my frustration knowing that there's a lot of talent here in Canada that was getting underexposed we were so close to new york city yet we didn't get any respect there was nobody in the map as far as rappers were concerned so my thinking hat went on and i'm like why not have a Babel in an on bike the best rappers from America to come here and battle our best rappers here that will put us on the map and hence the birth of you know people like mashini and rumbling strong and you know artists that were battling with all the elements human beatboxing rapping scratching etc etc that became more of a series I had bad luck producers to help establish people who were using hip-hop music and over time canada slowly started to earn a little respect so I'm just mix applicative somebody who responds to a demand you know what I mean people wanted more it started just as a radio show but eventually I had to take to a next level I became a leading hip-hop promoter I eventually got into producing I guess my greatest contribution may be to have two songs and dreamers album dig up I've been buried but he didn't get any production credit so I got no royalties he said technically I'm remix me but voice through the multiverse and journey on or my songs done in my studio and beet factory records all the history they created I bought a house at finch and victoria park package studios and i took ivan out of pickering and I said yo come to come to the big city man put your studio in here so I had my pseudonym baseman and his was right so I me that was where v factory was so I guess I've been a little bit of a catalyst and making certain things happen and my life has been hip-hop him too so made it now at some point in time I quit hip-hop which disappoint a lot of people I left it I thought that hip-hop was going into hip-hop and it was getting very commercial and I guess I've done my work and I wanted not to stand still but to move on to an even more on the ground level so I got into dad's hall I'm now known as mr. Rago mania com that's what i do i still love hip-hop and my reward because i didn't get rich from doing hip-hop just like kool herc you know I've been instrumental but I didn't get rich from it but at least I got a little job out of it because for the last 11 years I've been teaching hip hop at York University and I get to teach a story of my life they don't have to go to Google or read any books because they hear about everything that I've done and I put about 500 students through the door every year at your so I'm pretty happy with that but other than that you know I spring of all the story I'm sure I've missed a lot of things cuz it's been a while now that I've been doing all this but do my capstone windows llc Stella and Charles Guttman Community College.
