Java capstone project capstone turbine stock split grands reportages point guard what's up everybody Merry Christmas today we're gonna talk about twelve spots to explore in the city of San Francisco to get in the Christmas spirit let's do it my first recommendation is Union Square Union Square is the heart of Christmas in San Francisco it has a massive tree the hearts that you've seen in lots of photos and of course ice skating right in the heart of the city it also has two unique streets to check out once called Maiden Lane and it leaves from the east side of the square this street is lined with market lights and it's beautiful to walk down a few streets down from that is what's called winter walk San Francisco and this is where they close an entire city street and allow only pedestrian access during the month of December and it has food trucks place to stay sit and hang out and you can walk past the storefronts which have a lot of Christmas related items as well as animals that are up for adoption during this time of the year my second recommendation is also in Union Square and that's visiting some of the famous stores Union Square is the third largest shopping area in the United States and it has tons of popular stores that go all out for Christmas of course the one you probably already know is Macy's which is adorned with wreaths and lights on the outside and we're half of the top floor is dedicated to Christmas with ornaments gifts all sorts of things you can buy as well as a place for kids to write letters to Santa and even an option to sit on Santa's lap across the street from that is Neiman Marcus which has a huge four-story tree right in the window that you can see from the outside and explore from the inside I recommend going up each of the floors so you get different views of the tree and if you're looking for a unique romantic experience in the city you can book a dinner at the restaurant on the top floor which looks right at the top of the tree it's really cool the last store you got to check out is to head over to the Westfield Mall the Westfield Mall has a massive dome and each year they hang an LED Christmas tree upside down it's a super cool spot that you'll see all over Instagram during Christmas but it's worth seeing in person as it's much more spectacular stop number three is to head over to the historic Westin st. Francis this historic hotel from the early 1900's has two cakes that they build and display each year the main cake stands at about ten feet tall completely covered in sugar and it looks like a castle it even has a motorized train that goes around the base it's amazing and something you have to see in person they also have a sweet shop that they open on the weekends that sells cookies macaroons those types of things right there in the hotel lobby stop number four is an event called Santa con Santa con is an event that happens every year in San Francisco and in other cities around the United States and it's where people descend on the downtown all dressed up like Santa Claus this is one of those things that you really want to see yourself as I probably saw a thousand Santa's while I was walking around the city while it starts in Union Square you'll see Stannis all over the city as they make their way around going to restaurants and bars and just having a good time believe me seeing a bunch of Santa's singing Sweet Caroline is something that you have to experience [Music] recommendation number five is to head to one of the city's historic theaters to see the Christmas carol this Charles Dickens classic is performed every year from the end of November through December with multiple showings on the weekends it's a fun event for the entire family but make sure to get your tickets in advance because they do sell out recommendation number six is to head to the historic Fairmont Hotel in Nob Hill area where they make a two-story gingerbread house every year this gingerbread house is located right in the lobby and it's made completely of gingerbread you can walk through it and have tea in the dining room or just walk around the outside to see a real gingerbread house in person for my seventh recommendation head down to the great Dickens Fair which is south of the city the great Dickens Fair takes over the Cow Palace for five weekends from the end of November through December complete with shops performances places to get a drink and people dressed in the historic clothing it's one of those things that you definitely want to check out at least once as it's fun to wander the streets of London have a buttered rum and just get in the Christmas spirit stop number eight is to visit one of the pop ups that happen in the city during the holidays often a lot of the shopping areas will have pop ups that feature Instagram Abul spots you can take pictures at but one of the most fun you can do this year is to visit deck the halls' which is a pop-up bar in the North Beach area of San Francisco and which has a wall full of penguins with an igloo a fake roof with reindeer hanging on the top of it Christmas related drinks even a giant Christmas tree in the corner be sure to get there early though as this pot gets crazy popular during the weekends stop number nine is to head over to the California Science Center in Golden Gate Park the California Science Center is an awesome spot to visit all throughout the year with their cool rainforest Dome albino alligator and lots of other stuff to explore but during the Christmas season they have a winter themed exhibit that showcases lots of different arctic animals has a snowman theater where you can learn about snowflakes and has Christmas carols and music that are played in the main hall if you get lucky it just might snow on you while you're there stop number ten is a visit to Fisherman's Wharf while Fisherman's Wharf itself doesn't have a lot of things to do for Christmas there are lights on the restaurants lights on the Fisherman's Wharf sign and you can head into Boden which has Christmas decorations and a spot where you can visit Santa the best thing to do is to head over to GR deli square which has tons of Christmas related attractions like lights that hang over the entryways Christmas trees everywhere and a giant Christmas tree with the G on the top right in the middle of the plaza plus you get free candy when you walk in the gr deli store so why not do that number eleven is to take one of the City Light tours if you only have a short amount of time in the city and you want to see some of these spots check out the city lights tour which happens by a bus cable car and firetruck grab a ticket from one of the companies that offer them and then you can take an hour to an hour and a half ride through Fisherman's Wharf Union Square and a lot of the other Christmas areas in San Francisco stop number 12 and my last recommendation is a visit to Tom and Jerry's house this privately owned residence in the southern part of San Francisco has been decorating their house for over 30 years the decorations here are lavish especially the gigantic tree that they put up every year this is a fun spot to see during the day and at nighttime but it is private properties to just observe from afar so that's it hopefully this encouraged you to go to San Francisco and get in the Christmas spirit be sure to let me know what I left off that you love in the comments we'll see you guys next week [Music] capstone bank credit card for money Westchester
