Internet of things business opportunities for money write for me capstone leadership solutions michigan reportajes barras bravas chilenas soccer I this is the morning swim show for thursday january 19 2012 i'm your host Peter bush in the fenice monitor today we'll talk to Florida State University swimmer Mateo dangle oh right now he has the top 500 free time in college swimming and the senior Seminole just swim his last college duel me Matteo joins us right now in the fenice monitor from Callahan Florida hey Mateo welcome to the morning swim show how are you hey Peter how are you good thanks well how was the last duel mate it was fun I mean it was a tough weekend we swam Florida Atlantic here in Tallahassee on Friday Friday afternoon the media ended I like six o'clock in the afternoon and then we took a bus right after that and headed up to Atlanta just over a tri-meet against georgia tech in NC State so I mean we were pretty beat up but I think the team performed well I have to do performances so I was happy with my life story yeah that's a lot of swimming to pack in your last duel meet weekend yeah it was tough definitely fatigued after that but I think it was a good way to end it just being happy about the performances before championship season you have gone a 415 in the 500 this year from what we could tell that's a six second drop from your best time yeah what's going on the senior season to make such a big drop well i think that the amount of work I put in during the summer training for world championships and the fact that before the beginning of this season ended an altitude training camp back in Colombia with the national team helped me a lot they're starting season season off strong like enrolling and it definitely showed off in the mid here impacts in November you have conference meet in about a month and then obviously NC double-a s you've already qualified for NC double a's will you do any tapering for conference oh well I've been talking to coach and he really wants us to wants me especially to be ready for both meats I mean it's really important agc is really important for us I mean Virginia skip North Carolina really great rival system and also Virginia Tech this year so coach wants me to be ready for both meats and I mean whatever you says whatever you says I'll do and be sure who get going to be in a good position to Simone both events what do you what do you think about that because we've seen that frankly in the past where guys have a great conference meet especially in distance events but they can't repeat you know three or four weeks later at NC double-a is the times that they swam at conference um I mean I think personally um assistant summer I don't really have to have that long to three-week taper to swim fast and I mean I think I showed that in November in Georgia Tech where I had less than impressed and starting to a cuts record school record in the 400 I am so I think if we follow like that's a same plan towards accs and SES I think I'll be fine and I'll be right I'll be I'll be good to have some good performances tell us about your swimming background you grew up in columbia right yeah and one what brought you to the US other than swimming I mean I grew back I grew up in Columbia I basically lived there my whole life until I was 18 I was an American school high school so I mean I really also reconnected with like yes you were swimming and I knew a lot about it my cousin anything below he's a coach to that in Miami as a club team miami swimming and i used to cover training with him during the summers when i was in high school and go to like Junior Nationals internationals so that's how I started learning about the American collegiate system and how I could like a for scholarship effectively the scholarship and some universities and then grudging out of high school I landed at Indian River with Frank Bradley it's been two years and I'm here why did you choose Florida State I mean it's just a great place to be the program itself a distance program have been known for another one thing for the best program in the country for years in distance I mean you had great people swimming here like Ali honesty Ian Rowe and I mean I'm ally myself I'm like being in that program right now and we're gonna we've just got some new recruits in this year we're going to keep that tradition going and just a school itself it's a great place to be it's a beautiful campus and just the tradition of the seminal tradition which is great other than typical aerobic distance training what is something unique about the way you train at Florida State um I mean I think I feel like coach Coach Taylor he pushes in practice every day in different ways i'm going to do we do some power work during the week but we also we also want some work a lot of course we'll drink that's nothing else are our main our main goal during your week is to see how well we can do with threshold sets then makes enemies and power and some vo2 max and lactate one or two times you mentioned earlier that you had gone back to columbia recently for some high altitude training we don't hear too much about columbia on the international swimming scene you know it's not exactly a big power player what is the state of colombian swimming there okay yeah you're invited me nurse there's not that much to be heard I mean it's a small country it's the development of sports slowly but surely they're going to get better mostly the focus is on soccer so I likes living it isn't really a big thing back home but I think that through the past couple of years more like five or six years a lot of you really get service I've come up on Omar pins own east on florida's from columbia if you had a great college career at 50 that second NCAA she's junior here so who's pretty good i mean i'm i'm here and there are some other swimmers who are at smu's women smu there's some of louisville so I think slowly but surely the level of conditioning is going up and as more honest as more people couple to the stakes to swim that's just going to make it make it better for the country itself you guys think you'll be able to put together any relays for London um not for London I don't think so we have that capability right now but we don't have a full quartet of people to be able to be qualified to run into revealing but i'm pretty sure sure you know somebody really will we'll be able to compute the olympics and the most important thing is to other than the reason just to send people really fix I mean I know Mars going and cozy as may cut and there's a few Legion few number of us who already have pretty started because I would be looking forward to going and working to expose a number do you have any what are the swimming facilities like in Colombia they're pretty good I'm their label s I think one of the best in South America there's there's Tribune olympic-sized pool with big stands I know myself like in cali colombia where i grew up there the facility that i trained with was built for the nineteen seventy one pan american games so it's a pretty good facility and they've renovated like six five or six times so it's still great facility training it's a fast pool and the great thing is that you can just fly out 30 minutes and go so i'm gonna go to an altitude training camp at 8,000 feet and then find another 30 minutes and go swim at sea level so it's I mean you get all the altitudes and the solution I really good I Mateo good to learn a little bit more about you and look forward to watching you in the collegiate season at the Olympics this year okay Peter thank you all right that's Mateo down below joining us from florida state university that is it for today's show i'm peter bush reminding you to keep your head down at the finish write for me capstone group denver School of General Studies.
