Do my internet of things landscape 2017 ubc ot capstone conference edit my literature review on diet for 10 good afternoon namaste thank you very much for all deciding to apply I think you are some of the luckiest people in the world right now because you're going to get an introduction to India which is unlike anything that has been organized before I was at King's College London 10 years ago and decided to move to India six years ago when I came here I didn't have a clue what to expect so what you're going to be experiencing is the result of years of experience reading hundreds of books and visiting thousands of places and it's the kind of program and introduction to India that we think will really give you a head start over your other friends who weren't lucky enough to come here in terms of your careers and in terms of your education and life experiences my name is Samantha hasty I'm here from Edinburgh University in Delhi on the UK area study India program sponsored by traffic consultancy services with King's College London Delhi University and indigenious I've had a fantastic time so far in Delhi it's been amazing between so many different historical sites and nick has given fantastic talks all of them really explaining the history and different things about India we want to learn I've also got so welcome here everyone's so friendly we'll speak to you in the street and smile I really hope to come back soon so over the past 4 weeks we've met a range of people and from professionals to young people's then we met some expats from the UK who have moved here quite recently and some were young professionals some where people that have moved their business over here others have were just starting their own businesses in Delhi and across India so it was great to hear how they were going about those changes how they were adapting to society here and I think for those that were considering from study into groups those that were considering moving to India it was great to hear how they can't settled in to life over here and I think it was very encouraging to hear that you know we can't do it if it's something that we would like to do in the future one of the great people that we've met and and your authors was Mark Kelly Marta Lee tortures through some of his experiences he wrote a book no full stop in India and I think that's a perfect way to describe Indian society that and there's no real way you can describe it there's always going to be something that changes you can never say it in one sentence we met Sam Miller who wrote the third daily adventures in a megacity it gave us an insight into how Delhi works as a city how it's changed over the past few years so it was really insightful to hear how we use the differences between both societies we met the author collateral trust you talked about contemporary society in India and I think that was really exciting for us we've met William Dalrymple used an author and an enthusiast about India in Delhi and I think his passion and love for Delhi was infectious and something that we can all relate to after being here for the past four weeks then met people from other industries such as William Bissell who is the e o of fab India and it was incredible to hear how he started at the business and how he uses the natural resources in his own country to create beautiful projects and we were very fortunate enough to go to fab India after that talk and see some of the beautiful things that he has created in his business I've come to India twice before now traveling and helping building a school previously so I've been out here for about three and in total I think the reason like I wanted to come out was to see how Delhi and India is changing and the businesslike side of things how that's developing my name is Leah Hawkins kabak I'm studying geography at the University of Leeds I'm here with you Carrie and I am currently doing an internship with monsoon I'm currently in my second year at University and a lot of my modules are focused towards retail and retail planning monsoon is a new brand it's just starting and my internship I need to be helping with like location analysis of these new stores which I'm really looking forward to if a company such as Tesco or some other big brand was offered me a job coming to India and to help plan new stores I'd absolutely jump at the chance to do it's such a fascinating place with all the development that's going on everywhere especially as it's happening so fast day I would really love the chance to do that this thing and absolutely incredible experience it was more than I could have ever expected or imagined it's given me a real taste of what India is like and all the like misconceptions and things that people have had has been shattered it's been absolutely great and really given people a feel for what they would like to do in India and how they think it might work as well I can be more thankful really to indigenious they've been absolutely fantastic the transfer ever has run smoothly the fees been great lunches especially I think a highlight of everybody's day though they've been really really helpful and any problems anyone's had they've sorted them out straight away it's been really great you couldn't fault the work that they've done I've been interested in Europe for quite a while now I started learning Hindi about three and a half years ago because I really liked the music and film and movie and like the unique culture that India and I wanted to come here and kind of see it for myself it's all good looking at on TV and watching things but it's not the same as coming and one of the things ari excites me about coming here is the fact that i'll get practice my language what gets practice speaking in a place where it's supposed to be perfect so yeah that's one of the things so as part of the study india program we got the chance to visit the colleges at Delhi University and it was a great experience we got some really interesting talks on the partition in 1947 we got to hear about the expanding economy interesting the students were very engaged they had so much to say they all wanted to contribute with questions and personal experiences so that was great to see we talked about the differences between different regions in India gender equality issues in general how women are treated and how they feel about it that was so interesting and it was great to be able to learn so much from the Indian students the trip so far is amazing I'm very grateful to the people who've organized this trip and we've done so many different things from old deli this morning and the Glitter shirts to the Lodi Gardens I was constantly a contrast between a crazy deli and then something a little bit more relaxed and beautiful but keeping having that juxtaposition between the two has been a pretty amazing I've always been kind of curious of the country I mean it's a country with 1.2 billion people in and it's something it's a country that I've never been to I don't know very much about so I thought it'd be an awesome place to come and see the world and understand the culture a bit better you I know that over the last few weeks you will have had a fantastic time here in India learning about the culture business and society of India through lectures workshops visits work placements and interacting with fellow students I'd like to thank our speakers this evening Gaucho Chawla dr. Dinesh Singh and Professor Sir Richard Trainor of course Tata Consultancy Services King's College London Delhi University and HR College Mumbai for the fantastic support that they've given this Thank You Sierra team and my business colleagues we've done a great job a little bit behind the scenes that you don't see a big thank you to Nick and Indo genius dumbu Buddy Holly buddy call me buddy hey Hey Oh my mother don't I Rangi Navarro tomorrow la la la la la the capstone exam for money Baruch College.
