Do my capstone logistics warehouse freight handler do my capstone project quotes japan snow report happo one ski I ever wanted Michelle Ferreira here in downtown Fenelon Falls Ontario as many of you know I'm truly passionate about small communities and I think they are the foundation for what makes up the bigger city center today what we're going to do is we are going to visit MacArthur drugs guardian pharmacy this is the oldest pharmacy in Ontario that's never changed locations it was taken over by a family in 1999 that immigrated here from Egypt the Abraham's family is amazing and they were warned to not move into a small community the story you're going to hear today is inspiring it's motivating and you're going to meet the people who come here all the time because they believe in this pharmacy we're also going to talk about how the pharmacy industry has changed and how so many people rely on them even more than they do on their doctors and how that impacts them and the health care system so come on in it's seniors Appreciation Day which is every Wednesday here at MacArthur drugs and we'll get the show on the road and we'll introduce you to everybody come on in [Music] ready who works here daddy and who else okay grandpa they're giving me a tour we're going to go are you going to show me everything yes okay I love that you have your own children in here and there is this kind of existing around you know their space they they're used to being here and they're comfortable being here ya know it's uh it's very important for us the family oh you like the infection you like the candy section they like the candy section lobner your family took over this place in 99 you're Egyptian no and you are in Sunland Falls Ontario No very small very white community wasn't even something does be even thought about like I never thought like oh I'm not the same like I would welcome from day one you know patients here gets on our birthdays Christmas Thanksgiving they get gifts for my kids they you know so we were welcomed from day one and it made our job so much easier I've been coming to Carthoris for 25 years as I moved here and when Sharif moved in it was a blessing because he's absolutely wonderful there was a time when I wasn't very well and my husband's going through cancer and Sharif even offered to bring our medication into her house and we don't live in town so he's very very kind and very very helpful and they're all the staff is wonderful here too so yeah but now it's a great family too which is really nice because having a family business they seem to care more I don't I don't know but you know like small town you know people in small towns seem to care more than in the big city so sure you have this really great reputation do you feel like there's a lot of pressure to be amazing I don't feel amazing but yeah I would think you know what I love about your story Sharif is that you said you wanted to be a pediatrician right and one of the reasons you didn't do that was because you wanted more interaction with your patients right and I find that personally really interesting because I do think pharmacists they have the endgame right you continue to see those people long after they're in and out yeah you know that's exactly what I like about pharmacy is that you follow of people even long after they they're there you know when we feel better they come back with you why do you like Sheree why do you like coming to visit Arthur Jarvis because he can you know they've got I mean anything by default okay years ago bad drug I was on he called me to explain what it was about be more than the stomach more than the doctor does he takes the time is always very friendly man comment yeah yeah like that Sharif is you can't say enough good things about him what makes them remarkable do you think at the pharmacists its concern for sure the people that come in everybody even knowing to tell you that I have more faith in human and I wouldn't a doctor you know one of the comments we hear today when we're walking around and hearing from your customers is that they trust more than they trust a doctor how does that make you feel it's a lot of pressure yeah because you have to really you know make sure that you're always right because if you make this page that trust can be gone and like in no time you know it takes a lot of work to build trust but it takes almost no effort to break the trust that's part of our job is mm like medications to doctors this day you know the doctors job is to diagnose the disease our job is to you know basically distance the prescription but we have to make sure it's the right profession as well I think sort of the messaging to behind visiting here today at MacArthur drugs is the small town and that you are the pharmacist as opposed to sometimes when we go into bigger centers there's revolving pharmacists in that place and it's hard to develop that relationship that you keep referring to that I think is kind of the core of it so how many of you are working at appears pharmacists yeah pretty much me and my dad and we just have a really pharmacist comes on one day a week but yeah we're basically here all the time do you phone your dad some time you say and you know general no no that's pretty like Aweber and like we're pretty often people like what we say is what we mean to so we most of our patients are actual like you know I'm not mostly pretty much all of our patients are very good we und no no no no actually you ever like a lot of Wendy's and we love all our Wendy's so I just took that into it [Music] you bought this in 99 yes vollis Canada yeah how did you decide here well i first i have a friend and he told me better to go to smaller communities today the kids before I have two teenagers but a day before I vote you people came to me and they were from pharmaceutical company warning me don't go and buy business in very small communities you will fail it is too late I kind ready so we started from the beginning to be very close to the patient so I start to feel that community embarrassing that very much actually very fear will govern the field we were more involved with the patient here and if we create a professional relationship this is will help in whole health care health care sleeping I agree I agree if you have a pharmacist good that you trust and have that relationship with that it's imperative in your health care yeah without this kind of relation will help bond with people and this is really its most it is genuine not something that you can create or pretend so the relation is genuine and you thank thank you people of Salem Falls actually because you've been very very supportive as well over the years all right you guys come here so malach and Omar what do we want to say to everybody for shopping at the store can you say thank you I'll say it for you thank you can we sing happy birthday to MacArthur drugs don't maybe say it happy birthday MacArthur drugs thank you so much to everybody for shopping and choosing this as your drug store let's celebrate small communities let's celebrate amazing pharmacists who do great work like Sharif and his family and these are Sharif's beautiful children are you going to be a pharmacist when you grow up you don't know yet you just do whatever you want you want to be a pharmacist you want to be a what an engineer sounds great thanks so much guys and thanks to MacArthur drugs for having us today a great story [Music] capstone automotive management Marymount Manhattan College.
