Capstone logistics bessemer al uw nlp capstone need someone to write essay on medicine online Town station K HTS new one from Taylor Swift that's gorgeous on your home town station make sure you go to hometown station dot-com for all the leaves saying greatest Santa Clarita has to offer speaking of the greatest Santa Clarita has to offer we have some very special guests in studio we have Eduardo and Andrew and they're from Hart High School and again I'm a Canyon alumni so it's tough for me to have them in here but alas I let them in and because there's a big event happening here in the Santa Clarita Valley this Saturday November 4th of college of the canyons and they're here to talk about it at water one Andrew thanks for coming in yeah thank you for having us here you guys are in the band so let's talk about this a little bit the event let's talk let's get the event out of the way yes it's happening this Saturday what is it rampage is just an event where bands come together and they perform and they perform their shows that they worked so hard for okay and this year there's 35 bands performing so all these really well-trained kids are just coming together over something that they love which is music okay and so it's this weekend and you said 35 different schools yeah they're all a Santa Clarita Valley schools are involved as well not all of them but some Santa Clarita Valley schools are involved as well absolutely and so it's a big event here in the Santa Clarita Valley what what happens so it's a how did they I don't know anything well I know about marching band I went and I went and tested the phone lines over at all the stadiums for the football games and you guys get yelled at by yeah yeah you guys get yelled at for marching bands so I what it what is the grading system how does it work do you guys know anything about the reigning so the competition is through SES POA kind of a Southern California school band and orchestra Association so they judge us on music and visuals and overall general effect okay and so the shows were have usually different types of music and they have classical music pop music jazz music and lots of different visuals like dance technique and so we'll get scored on how well we execute that individually it also has an ensemble and so it's a lot of big-picture moments that we need as well as a lot of the individuals I mean every person matters you know this isn't like some sports team where people can sit on the bench everybody's out there everybody everybody's out there everybody's playing again we're speaking Eduardo and Andrew from the heart regimen and they are going to be performing competing performing both all of those things are happening absolutely at the the marching band and color guard the rampage marching band competition it's at COC this Saturday and what time does it everything kickoff so first band goes on at 10:15 we'll have the star-spangled banner' by a group of trumpets from heart high school okay going on at 10 o'clock nice high school go Indians okay so I have to ask you what instruments do I add water what instrument do you play I've been playing the clarinet for eight years now okay so you've been playing for eight years what got you into playing the clarinet because let's be real the guitar gets a little bit more play than then the clarinet it's tough it's tough at a party to say hey man you want me to pull out my clarinet and we'll play yeah what was it that true what was it about the clarinet that stuck out to you well I was in elementary school and we had a thing called a petting zoo for your instruments and I always just saw the flute and they're all these very classical instruments and people always chose things like the violin or the guitar like you were just say yeah but I don't know just looking at the woodwind instrument of the clarinet it just it caught my attention and ever since then I've always really liked the sound and the way I feel around it and it makes me feel more comfortable I'm like I would like to point out I should have prefaced all of this by saying I have not one musical bone in my body so so so I just want to say that and what do you Andrew what what instrument do you play so I play the trumpet but right now I am the drum major at heart and so I'm hold on a second did you say you play the trumpet and the drums the trumpet I play the trumpet during marching season I am the drum major so I stand on a podium in front of the band and help keep time and conduct performance okay which has been a rollercoaster in itself it's a it's a big student leadership position I help oversee alright as a liaison between the students and the staff and so at times I mean their student hearing instruction or staff helping give instruction which has been a very interesting role to balance you know and so I also play trumpet which I've been playing trumpet for about six years now okay before that I played piano but I started playing trumpet because one of my cousin's played trumpet and it looked like a great instrument and I mean it's the trumpet yeah its greatness yeah yeah yeah it wakes you up at camp oh yes right right so it does okay so this Saturday the ram-paige marching band competition it's at college of the canyons starts at 10:15 out here again at college of the canyons and the heart regimen is going to be performing how for those who don't know someone like ignorant like me how much work goes into what you guys do because marching is marching band is really I mentioned this to you guys during the break I was at one of the high schools out here and the marching band was practicing and it was no joke man it was uh it was getting yelled at and it was like it was like hell week over at for football they were there was some heavy stuff going on so how much work goes into it for those who don't know for the marching band to get ready for this competition well we always start towards the end of summer and towards the end of summer we have a thing called band camp and that's usually goes on for two weeks and we go from maybe as early as seven o'clock to as late as 8:00 p.m. sometimes and it's just really no food no water no but it's all it's all in good it's all very fun we do it for a reason because we enjoy but it is it's very disciplinary and we have to we get yelled at because our band director wants us to succeed yeah yeah absolutely yeah and it's how much so what's the different role as you said do you like doing what you're doing or do you miss being on the field at times it during rehearsal I do miss being on the field just because I mean there's nothing like going on a field and then just seeing the stands and seeing the audience's reaction when something's really great and what something's really delicate sometimes too you know and so it's really cool seeing that but it's also cool being from my position because I kind of help direct the show like our show this year's cinema and so we're really about two movies so in the way I get to help direct the show as well as some of the other student leaders who were there and it's a really cool position it's a lot of it can be a lot of work at times you know it's not it's not easy days all the time but it's a really it's a good time good time again go out and support your local bands especially heart because they're here and if I could put in a plug here if you guys could maybe spell out my name that would be better you probably would win the competition so no if you guys want to try to mix in spelling my name in the confident now you'll think yeah that's okay so the rampage marching band competition is happening this Saturday November 4th at college of the canyons thanks for coming in guys appreciate you being here thank you Santa Cruz hometown station quick break more up to this remember Star Trek backbones would pull out what looked like a TV remote control capstone
