Capstone definition in education for money write for me sam capstone project excel 2019 rubric for literary essay 5th grade [Music] Saturday people worldwide have disparate histories ethnicities and agendas marched in defense of women's rights and gender equity and New Jersey residents joined sister marches at home or boarded scores of buses headed for Washington arendelle Moore and Brianna vanozza were on board to report on an historic march they may have sparked a movement good morning it's Saturday January 21st it's just about a quarter after 5:00 in the morning but we're not the only ones up today there are about a hundred activists here in New Providence New Jersey all these people are gathered here today to make it to Washington DC then all the way back to New Jersey in just one day for the women's march on Washington come on board let's meet our bus mary is knitting one hat an hour by the time we get down there she'll have four we will be with a lot of kindred spirits today as we encounter you know just who knows what that may delay us or may say oh we're not gonna get here at this time let's keep that in mind so we just got off the bus after a very long drive we had to make a couple of stops to help some fellow marchers with their bus broke down but we're with our group from Union County we are heading toward the Silver Spring metro stop somewhere around five hundred thousand are expected and just from New Jersey alone about fourteen thousand so you see the unofficial uniform there are women and men wearing pink pussy hats tell me why you decided to come to support our rights everyone's rights why not March in Philly why not go to a closer sister March I think the numbers here are really important it sends a message to the new administration that we're not going away this is just the start coming out and showing that solidarity that was important to you absolutely we're watching protesters and activists enter Union Station here through the Metro people have been making their way by train bus plane some of them days before we are making our way down the street for the March you can see behind us pretty much in every direction thousands and thousands of people have descended here right let me talk to you about your sign here girls just want to have fundamental rights yes we are marching here for rights for all women all girls I'm here for my daughter she's nine months old and I want to make sure that all women and girls around our country around the world have equal rights speaks to the magnitude of what was expected and how many people actually turned out right oh my god I have come to many many demonstrations over my adulthood and I have never been to anything as big as this and this is historic this is a the first day of the resistance that he's got that Trump and the Republicans and their agenda this is what its gonna look like and this is not a one-time this is the beginning nobody thinks that this is an end I want to ask you about men's role here in this March we've had people say to us it's a women's March it's for women what do you make of it I mean if you're talking about a women's March men have to be part of feminism right and you have to recognize that the patriarchy affects men in a negative way not in the same way that it affects women but in different ways right tell me why you have these particular signs what's the message here we just wanted to celebrate all that American women have contributed to American society and culture in all of the various ways you know politics law science arts you know we've seen American women do a lot of incredible things despite the odds being stacked against them and I think this March is about you reshuffling the deck [Music] you see a lot of reproductive rights messaging health messaging a lot of issues around education Bri what are you seeing out there a lot of family is participating which is not something you often see with an activist movement like this but we've got babies we've got kids in strollers we've got toddlers and up and so there's a lot of families who are using this as an example I've said that the reason why I wanted to be in this March is because I wanted to be an active participant in creating the world that I want my children to inherit and today I saw that Aaron Del Mar and Breanna vanozza we're on the mall Saturday near where our chief political correspondent Michael Aaron had been standing less than 24 hours earlier at the inauguration thanks all of us for being here Aaron and Brianna this is not necessarily an anti-trump march right I think we agree the March was different things for different people you had a group of people out there on Saturday who opposed the presidency of Donald Trump who disagree with his election and fought hard against him during the campaign but then you have people who are fighting for women's rights they're fighting for rights of minorities immigrants disabled people reproductive rights it's span the gamut certainly it started as an anti Trump opposition movement but as it progressed and as it gained strength a lot of the folks were there just to ensure that any of the progressive policies that they felt needed attention were heard and that by simply staying home it wasn't tacit consent to an agenda that they may or may not have issue with and making an example out of that but the tone was fundamentally peaceful Michael 24 hours earlier you were there when there were protests that were not peaceful what was the tone you've covered a lot of inaugurals what was the tone of this one field you know they say where you stand depends on where you sit what you see at inauguration also depends on where you said or where you're standing and I was on the inaugural parade route I was not at the speech and on the route we happened to be across Pennsylvania Avenue from about a thousand or 1500 anti-trump demonstrators so what I experienced there was a divided a group of people there were a lot of Trump supporters I saw pumping their fists in the air or bumping their fists together but the division that you keep hearing about that has afflicted this country this year was very much on display where I happened to be at the inaugural there's security security was so tight I can't tell you how many how many streets were stopped closed off by Sanitation trucks and metropolitan buses clearly with a view to what had happened with that the two terrible truck terror attacks in Nice and Berlin it was replicated in Washington they did a very good job of really cordoning off the mall and and the ceremony area and some people couldn't get through I spoke to one couple who said we stood in line for three hours to get onto the mall we had tickets and we never got in what about the diversity ladies that you saw on the Saturday March we saw a bunch of families certainly a lot of parents with their kids some of them were on their shoulders and when we spoke to people you heard some of this in our report they said I'm marching for my son I'm marching for my daughter the last woman you saw is the captain of our bus and she said specifically I'm marching to change the world my children inherit we saw all generations people with canes and people with small strollers and where does it go from here they're all ready they already have this network created now so they're already planning to meet and start gathering support you know to start writing into local state federal officials to be active within the community and they have it in place they're going to be meeting as I know starting this week some of the buses who we spoke with so the whole point of it they said wasn't just to be cathartic although some people did say that it was healing for them but to sustain action and sustained presence in what they feel are really important issues okay Aaron dellmore ran over knows he Michael Aaron thank you very much for
