Bus 499 business administration capstone exam answers for money

Bus 499 business administration capstone exam answers for money capstone pico question presentation layer design issues pdf printer ´╗┐hi this is Shelly crap and welcome to SNN live we're at the bio Maryland booth at the bio International in Chicago 2013 I have with me on my far left dr. Philip Rob lotto and to my near left dr. Nancy calgar they are both of the University of Maryland tech transfer group which is of course a private enterprise I want to welcome you both to Essen in life well first of all thanks very much for having us here today it's a real privilege it's good to have you both now tech transfer that's the backbone of why all of this exists so why don't you give me a little bit of an understanding for our audience of exactly what tech transfer does sure so at the University of Maryland we get all of the new inventions that the inventors at the University come up with so any new medical device any new therapeutic any new medication very early stage they disclose it to us and we decide whether or not it's something that you can patent or copyright or protect and we move forward with it and ultimately we try to market it we try to find a partner for it where we try to put it in the hands of a startup company we try to basically get it to an organization that can commercialize the technology for us it's the most exciting part of the business absolute for me anyway dr. cowgirl so what do you specialize in the group doing so I'm part of a team there are several licensing officer there are four of us and then there's two other scientists who work with us to do marketing and then we have we also have an intellectual property group who manages the patents and so we all work together as a team now now I in particular have the privilege to work with them our campus has an infectious disease focus and a vaccine focus and I get to work with a lot of those type of researchers and those technologies so we actually here today at the meeting we were speaking with a couple of smaller vaccine companies and one major vaccine company you know these are the types of partnerships that we're hoping to find to allow the university's inventions to see see the light of day as a product that's what we hope to see you know I'm kind of jealous because what you do I have to repeat is so exciting because they could come that time when of all things some disruptive technology is shown to you and some may be you know powerpoint presentation by a doctor who's like broken through some major platform I mean it's what goes through your veins when that happens I mean holy smoke well it's exciting there's no doubt it's a really exciting job so i was at dupont and then I was at solera before this and you know great companies but limited you get chemistry at one place where you get proteins at another here we can see anything from you know the very very early stage where you might have a really exciting breakthrough to a surgeon who's you know discovered a great way to do surgery so I really I mean it is it's a really exciting job I have to say I really love it so and in all of that excitement vaccines are really happening they are now well it's true I mean look at look first of all let's talk about personalized medicine okay we're there right from from electronic medical records right down to DNA vaccines so what's without divulging anything you shouldn't tell me what's the most exciting vaccine orientation you've seen and I'll make it just in the last six months okay well actually there's one that's prominent to me because I think about the patients that could benefit from it but we have a particular inventor named Mark Shurtleff and he's developed a vaccine against staph aureus and that causes all kinds of disease people who have devices implanted inside their body say like a pacemaker or just an artificial hip or something like that they can end up with with a bacterial infection on the device and sometimes that bacteria it does not respond to conventional antibiotics and so the technology from dr. shirt lips lab from the University of Maryland that actually addresses this problem there's there's a vaccine it works in animals beautifully and we just really truly hope that that's going to find the right partner and soon let me just so exciting I you know I first of all I think we're gonna run out of tape so but I I don't really care because look so let me ask you a question how do you know how do you know when you see it you know what I mean by that yeah well I know if I get really excited I say wow this is a great idea you know luckily I've been doing this for a long enough time and I've seen all kinds of ideas some good some bad and you know where the where the market really needs help and you know it's you never know we get invention meetings we have five three or four a week probably and you never know what's going to come out of one usually there at the very least they're really interesting and sometimes you'll walk out saying wow this is this really could be something big so down sorry so you what I think is really cool is that when you see something and you have that excitement button go off and you get the bells and the buzzes and all of that you kind of know where to go with this don't you and that's the key not only is it discovering it and vent vetting it and flushing it out but now you have an opportunity to find a commercial a commercialization of that that's that's the endgame isn't it right right right yes what and it's not always obvious you know because the market changes pretty rapidly so we have to try to stay abreast and keep talking to people and figure out where it's very good boy dr. cowgirl and how do you feel about it oh I agree one hundred percent we try to stay on top of things as best we can and you don't want a technology like that comes in we say we're starting to think who are we going to market this to who should develop it should thus be a start-up so you know all those things go through our head every time good technology comes in okay transfer folks what's your website our website is if you go to the University of Maryland and Baltimore website and then you go on research and development tech transfer that's what you'll find us also there's a second website now if you search for um ventures which is a new statewide initiative for the college park university of maryland college park and university maryland baltimore campuses have pooled their tech transfer resources together so you can go to UM wwm ventures com i believe and find that so why vet why Maryland my Maryland because we are definitely one of the hubs of biotech the state has tons of life science programs to encourage new companies to come to our area and advance the ones that are already there and you feel let me guess the same way right I absolutely do and I have to say the state is extremely supportive of tech transfer it's a big initiative for for the state for the governor and you know there's just a tremendous amount of assets in the state that we really feel like we're going to start to bring out now the next five years or so well I got a new slogan for you Marilyn gets it extra ladies and gentlemen let me wrap up dr. Philip robbed a lot oh and dr. Nancy Cowger the University of Maryland tech transfer group and it's a private enterprise of course we're at the bio Maryland booth at the bio International in Chicago 2013 I'm Shelley creve this is s and in life let me thank you both a coming very much thank you do my example of a capstone project in nursing Simon Business School.
