Ba599 capstone project cheap

Ba599 capstone project cheap capstone papers on human trafficking for money 4 71t ddec reports ´╗┐thank you I'm an academic I'm glad to stand up and speak I sit down way too much and I'm proud that we have a very good grower here that can put the food together put the energy put the materials together to grow the food that keep us the bed fat best fed nation on earth at the lowest prices thank you very much I also want to thank Sharon and Jeannie for the opportunity to speak here today I'll show you a few slides but I'll ask the question or give you this this insight being the last on the program doesn't mean that you're the oldest and the wisest that's for sure it could mean that you're bringing the future is the future within controlled environment greenhouses and I'll ask this question because that's my focus controlled environment greenhouses I asked this question has anyone eaten the tomato in the past weeks or months yes please keep doing that they're good for you and we need to support the industry they were probably a 50/50 chance that tomato was grown in a greenhouse at this state there are some people that say 70% of the tomatoes that we eat in the US come from a greenhouse controlled environment now I've been working in production agriculture for a long time I actually worked with the man who knew simcha Blass from Israel I was a young student at the time I fell in love with drip irrigation great deal with water and distributing everything that that Dan has spoke about but you can't control the aerial environment around the plant so I leave that thought with you that's what we do with controlled environment greenhouses we have a contingent of people and students working with these restrictions of resources to improve food production in controlled environment growing them anywhere we would like to have them groan that they can produce a profit for the grower bottom line and with the 500 acres that we have here in Arizona that has grown dramatically over the past 10 years we expect to continue with this tomato being a big part of the of the production some of the opportunities are greenhouses which we do do exist here today not only in Arizona but around the world and around the United States but also some other opportunities to grow fully-enclosed without even using sunlight numbers that I will I hope that I can provide this so that it could be available to everyone I won't go through these numbers but but basically in the past five years the number of greenhouses that increase because of the specialty crop vegetables by 400% jobs money 2.2 billion dollars in regional economic value coming out of greenhouse systems and primarily that is tomato although the locally grown movement for fresh leafy greens is beginning to take over many many small growers a few thousand square feet as opposed to the large tomato growers which maybe tens of hectares looking at some numbers for environments 8 to 10 times I'm sorry five to eight times less water use for irrigation compared to open field agriculture and that's comparing for flood not drip then we can look at those numbers and and say about a gallon a gallon and a half per head of lettuce coming out of greenhouse that is for irrigation compared to well over two three four hundred gallons for flood irrigation land area well we have plenty of land in Arizona but we can reduce the Amidah of 10 because productivity can increase per unit area by factor of at least 10 18 tons if you counted as set of heads of lettuce 18 tonnes of head of lettuce for acre per year compared to a greenhouse 185 tons per acre per year environmental benefits erosion minimized nutrient runoff is is eliminated pesticides can be eliminated food through integrated pest management programs we're controlling the aerial environment of the plant it's a bit of a challenge but it's technology and it's education that can that can make that happen return then from the greenhouse tomato is somewhere on the order of 20 cents to as little as 12 cents per gallon of water used to grow that tomato so it's high dollar value crops specialty crops salad crops nutrients vitamins minerals fiber sounds great and it is good it does not replace field agriculture let's not fool ourselves here we need field production agriculture for all the proteinaceous crops the soy the root the wheat and all keep that in mind however it does have a place in production agriculture in Arizona agriculture and we're beginning the growers to pick up the ball and run with it here in Arizona a couple of pictures of where it can go rooftop production in New York City again not a replacement but an opportunity to grow locally here is a market on top Whole Foods where the greenhouse is producing the crops in New York City and they've now expanded into Chicago this is obvious to all of you where do our veggies come from and if we stay close to home we say you ma producing our greens but look at the distribution 90% at a Yuma and the Southwest 10% from greenhouses for lettuce now and very very little from these enclosed buildings opportunities sometimes called vertical farming if not inappropriately named at least it gives you the description of inside a building stacked growing with artificial lights a long way to go for them to be profitable but they are there these greenhouses are profitable from the high-technology greenhouses that are on the order of a million dollars per acre investment well it's not cheap he was talking about $1200 per acre for for drip irrigation thereabouts so this is significant but the returns are very very good and an opportunity to use water more efficiently why not now there are the low cost tunnel greenhouses hoop houses that if you will grown in the soil not with well possibly with drip irrigation but not with recycling hydroponic as we can in the high-tech greenhouses but look at these yields if 100 kilos per square meter means nothing to you 20 pounds per square foot per plant per year of tomato comes out to over 400 tons of tomatoes per acre per year does anybody know the average in the u.s. of field grown tomato production divided by 12 somewhere on the order of 30 35 tons of fresh market tomatoes coming out of the field and it's growing no pun intended it will continue to expand because the market is demanding it the technology has exist for the past 30 or 40 years it is now ready to be utilized and it is and I'll end up with this slide here to emphasize that it's quality in yields its knowledge that's needed to provide safe secure pesticide free produce using efficient water land and nutrients providing a predictable harvests so a grower knows when to utilize their their energies to meet that market and these are just fundamental challenges that we always exist today it was focused on water but its water and energy that's needed to produce food and I'd like to say coming from an academic it's also knowledge we need to have more young people or those who are transitioning into controlled environments to learn and as we speak I can take off this and put my other nametag on we are in the middle of our green house short course that's an entire week here at the University of Arizona off campus so I was pleased to be able to fit in between a couple of speakers and come here and talk to you today thank you very much do my capstone project cost School of Humanities and Sciences.
